Being a media student with a dream of becoming journalist, I interned alongside Alan Khan, a commercial wedding photographer. Alan Khan gave me the opportunity to learn how to use media and gained real-world experience that was connected to my academic studies. In this essay, I will discuss the significance of social media as it relates with my work experience. Did I See A Vision? In my essay on placement I talked about having the future and am realizing now that the power of social media could help small-scale businesses like Alan Khan reach a wider crowd. As I've mentioned, the work of documenting weddings is now so much more technological than it was. And people are looking for various ways to document their experiences that go beyond the set of pictures in a magazine. I was amazed by the way photography has changed in the last few years. Things aren't the same from a few years ago. Although Photoshop abilities are still valuable, there are many increasing numbers of tools available like Google Plus for editing photos, and even apps on your phone that can make anyone into a photography and video editor. I'm sure I've learned more about how I can remain ahead of market trends by making use of the almost ubiquitous nature of the web by giving customers not only amazing images but also a way to convey the story of their wedding day in the way they wish to convey it. It's difficult to pinpoint the power that social media has to offer. I was struck by a picture in which everything is counted in everything from the names you assign to your photos that must be less than 25 characters and the challenges of finding a perfect way to get the bride and groom to be seated in one space for a group shot, to thinking out of the box by making use of Facebook and social media for advertising that is not stale and filled with marketing junk and language. In my research I learned that the most successful boutique wedding and photography companies have been able to get 60-80% of their bookings from social media customers. Visit:- https://fearlesselopement.com/ It requires a lot of work to get 158,830 likes on Facebook. It's difficult to get a company noticed when the market is saturated. The great thing about Facebook and Twitter is that everyone can make the pages on Facebook and Twitter. The hard thing is to make it last and continue to add quality content to the site. For those of us who browse the web we are not looking very carefully. We go from one page to the next, and when we come across an article we like, the content must pop out to us and engage our minds. If not, we'll continue to the next. If someone is looking for weddings , they are likely doing it very quickly and will contact the business based on how it's perceived on the internet. The strategy Khan uses is to make it clear that Khan is an "public figure," which signals to people who go to the site that the wedding photography firm values the community. As I mentioned in my essay on placement We are specifically targeting wedding couples, but I'm thinking we're also targeting friends that the couple have, including the groom and people with an interest in weddings and want to see photos of the day. Social Media - Facebook Page - Twitter - Instagram - WordPress Social media provides the business with an opportunity to showcase its work to a wider public. But I think the most important method we can use is to promote sharing of our content. People are inclined to share their experiences online and I believe it's important to make our Instagram page more accessible to share is a good idea for businesses. People are drawn to sharing content that is reflective of their identity and the culture of the region, so I noticed people tend to share photos of places within the city, and more than they post generic images. I am keeping track of comments. The company creates comments based on contact information, however, people post comments based on feelings. A user on Instagram says of an image "beautiful bride, absolutely gorgeous." Therefore, it is logical to use the language of the marketing. Perhaps we could combine the two , and instead of just listing the contact details on every image we post on Instagram and make it more personal. Then, we could mention "Contact us for gorgeous photographs of your wedding," instead of a generic "call us blah blah blah." In my position essay similar ideas and I believe that it's working. People do comment about location, their own thoughts about the beauty of the bride and, sometimes, but not so much, what they were feeling at the wedding. Did We Improve for Success? : - I think Instagram is a great obvious choice for marketing via social media for photographers. I noticed that we employed area architecture in our branding and tried to show what we love about the Sydney brand to both the local Marsfield client and others. As the company expands into the international market there should be careful consideration of the costs and how to properly market both brands. - Media coverage has not been a top priority, and the results on the internet are more generated in-house rather than news coverage from local papers. If Alan Khan makes friends on Twitter or on Facebook with other leading wedding photographers he admires, it might help him expand his local brand for greater coverage. If I wanted to establish my own small company, I would look to expand the market to include Home photography, as I mentioned in my assignment, because I believe it is growing as an industry that is viable and people require professional photographic documentation of their home. Continued Training In Wedding Photography As an intern, I gained important technical skillsmuch more than I thought I would learn. - The mechanics of using a DSLR camera, and the settings, as well as how to utilize the camera that we used for our cinema weddings. - Different types of photos for cinema weddings and choosing a soundtrack for the wedding video. Editing photos in Photoshop and printing photos for clients Most importantly, I was taught the art of communicating with customers and instructing them on how to appear natural for the camera, no matter if it's in the studio or outside in a park, or inside a house of worship, the art of photographing people is becoming acquainted with people. Photography's art is to capture the moment. In the perfect moment. It's impossible to stop the wedding or to request the couple to recite the wedding vows over again. The photographers I had the privilege of working with during my internship helped me capture these intimate moments more effectively and I realized what I learned from Alan Khan's teaching me was that the work he performs is not simply a science it's an art. Conclusion As I mentioned in my essay on my place in the world I volunteered to work as a wedding photographer so I could learn additional skills as well as to participate with a venture that I am passionate about. As I've worked in this position, I have seen the value of social media and how it can help. I've learned Photoshop and have become proficient in cropping images, resizing images, and preparing photos ready for clients on a CD or on a thumb drive. Working with clients has been a wonderful learning experience for myself, and I'm able to tell that they really appreciate the trust they have placed on you to record their wedding. When you are giving feedback, it is crucial to establish that initial trust because clients will be more likely to listen to you. I also learned so much about video editing as well, and the use of editing techniques that produce high-quality "Hollywood" like wedding videos. Everything from printing pictures and selecting an appropriate music soundtrack are just a few of the valuable things I picked up. Being the wedding photographer exposes you to so many possibilities, including different types of weddings, and I was able to learn a lot about the culture of my country, and was able to I try great food and learned different dance moves. The art of photography is something that I'd love to master in the future, and I think as we move forward social media will certainly play more of a role in the way that people envision their weddings. I was originally planning to become the news reporter, however, work in photography is what I plan to do as my "B." By choosing a photography internship instead of one that is a news reporting experience like the one I did for SBS is a way to differentiate my expertise and shows that I am willing to explore different avenues. What social media shows is that we have the ability to communicate with a greater number of people, using images, videos, stories. On the web even journalists have to know the importance of including images in their writing. People want the image to be a powerful statement. Allowing people to share their wedding photos on their Facebook, or on Youtube or even giving those who aren't tech-savvy with social media or the Web the tools they need to share their wedding photos is a thrilling project. As photographer for weddings I've learned that the art of recording the important moments of life can be improved through the use of strategic social media. My career, and my academic work, has allowed me to integrate ideas from media in order to advance these ideas into my own professional growth.
